When things don’t work out

Hey Reader,

Happy FriYaaayy!

I wanted to share something a little personal with you today.

UPATE: I didn’t get the job.

(I told you I’d keep you updated!)

But here’s the thing: I’m actually celebrating this “no.”

When something doesn’t work out the way you planned, it’s so easy to feel discouraged or question your worth. But this experience? It left me feeling incredibly grateful.

Here are 4 reasons I’m celebrating this “no”.

  1. The JOY of putting myself out there in a new way — and remembering I’m so much more than my “founder” hat.
  2. Proof that JOYFUL REST isn’t fluff. It’s real leadership strategy — and something so many women truly need.
  3. Meeting so many new JOYrney™ friends who share this vision.
  4. Confirmation there’s always more work to do, new people to reach, and untapped ways to share this mission.

What this taught me as a leader:
Sometimes the most important “wins” aren’t the roles you land — but the clarity, connections, and courage you gain in the process.

Because the truth is: things not working out often means they’re working for us in a different way.

How do I know? Because God’s hand is always in the mix.

I truly believe that no matter what happens, The Lord’s plans are always working out for His glory, and my good.

Also – if you’ve read the entire Bible it’s so hard to believe in a God of “coincidence.”

He’s a DIVINE creator and Master architect! So I trust that I’m in good hands.

In the meantime? I’ll be spending more days of my summer hanging out in library cubby-shelves nursing my toddler (yep, that’s the vibe 😂).

But I’m thinking of you, too.
If you’re navigating a transition, feeling stuck, ready to pivot, or wondering “what’s next”…

I recorded the most recent JOYrney To Purpose® Podcast episode specifically for you.

New Episode: How to Rest… Without Guilt: 8 faith-inspired prompts to help you slow down, listen for what’s next, and embrace JOYful rest.

(BTW: I’m FINALLY officially over on Apple Podcasts 🙌🏾 **Insert Praise Dance** lol)

I’d truly love to hear from you.
What’s something in your life that didn’t go as planned, but turned out to be a blessing in disguise?

Hit reply and tell me. I read every single message.

We’re on the JOYrney™ together… ONE feel-good thing at a time.

With JOY,
Erica

PS: If you know a friend who’s been in a season of transition (or struggling with rest), forward this email to them. Sometimes a gentle nudge is exactly what someone needs.

Hey Reader heeeyyyy! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was beautiful. We spent it in Baltimore celebrating my nephew’s first trip around the sun — and for nearly 48 hours… I barely looked at my phone. And honestly? It felt AMAZING. Which was especially meaningful because the the past week I had been sitting with a couple questions inspired by this thought: "Time multiplies whatever you feed it." I heard that while listening to an episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, and my immediate...

Hey Reader heeeyyyy! Happy FriYAYYYYY! 💃🏾 So I don’t want to start this off heavy – but I’ve been thinking about this all day… Convenience kills. That might sound dramatic — but stay with me for a moment. This reflection actually started with a totally real and very ordinary mom moment. Earlier today, I was cutting grapes for my 20-month-old daughter’s morning snack. As I sliced them in half, I noticed something strange. It’s weird looking, right? 😆 lol One grape had a couple of holes in the...
